A Cruise; or Three Months on the Continent by a Naval Officer.
One of the earliest accounts and illustrations of a roller coaster in an English book. The author starts his continental tour during the Summer of 1817 at Ostend and continues to Bruges, Ghent, Antwerp, Rotterdam, Delft, Lyden, Haarlem, Amsterdam, Utrecht and Paris, and places in between.

iv 129 pages of text [ii] blank [i] printer's device. Rebound in black 1/4 leather with marbled paper-covered boards. Title in gilt to spine. Illustrated with four hand-coloured (aquatint) plates. Description and travel of Belgium, France, and the Netherlands. Tiny spots of staining and slight creasing to the margins of a few pages. Bookplate of John Sinkankas (1915-2002), an expert on rocks, gems, minerals, and author neatly on front pastedown. FIRST EDITION. Hardcover. Very good+ condition. Coloured plates in order: 1. Frontis. View of the Aerial Mountains, commonly called French Mountains. 2. Fish-woman of the Village of Scheveling and a Servant of a wealthy family. 3.
