Description
Two works bound together. Cover in contemporary blue cloth boards, expertly re-backed in gilt-lined calf. Preserving original gilt morocco title labels on upper board and front paste-down endpaper, spine in six densely-gilt compartments of raised gilt bands and gilt floral motifs, gilt crimson morocco title label on two, endpapers renewed. Complete with 24 hand-coloured aquatints mounted on card (cards are renewed due to deterioration of old cards), each with typeset captions mounted beneath. Twelve come from Wild's "Foreign Cathedrals" published in 1826, the other twelve from his "English Cathedrals" published in 1828. The English Cathedrals include: Oxford, Norwich, Wells, Salisbury and York - Foreign Cathedrals include: Rouen, Amiens, Cologne, Rheims and Chartres.
