PAPWORTH, John Buonarnotti.
Rural Residences, consisting of a series of designs for cottages, decorated cottages, small villas and other ornamental buildings, accompanied by hints on situation, construction, in the theory and practice of rural architecture....

Papworth (1775-1847)was the architect of the Duke of Wurtemberg and worked at Claremont, Alton Towers, Kew Priory, and elsewhere as a designer of gardens and furnisher of ornamental buildings. In this beautifully illustrated book, he demonstrates that even a modest cottage could be made beautiful by applying the principles of proportion and form.
